1. Introduction
MIMBUS BRIDGE is a companion application designed to supervise virtual reality sessions by providing a real-time screen feedback of the standalone headsets connected on the same local network. It can be used on a compatible computer, tablet, or phone.
MIMBUS BRIDGE is compatible with the following simulators:
-
Mimbus Construct
-
Mimbus Chemistry
-
Mimbus Discover
-
Mimmbus Food
-
Mimbus Industry
-
Mimbus Logistics
2. Installation
The application is available on PC, MacOS, and Android platforms.
-
Using your browser, download the latest version of the application from downloads.mimbus.com making sure to choose the version compatible with your hardware.
-
Launch the installation program.
Note
|
On the Android platform, you must allow the installation of programs from unknown sources to install the application. |
-
Confirm network access: On the first launch, a message will ask you to confirm access to your local network. This authorization is necessary for the application to function.
3. Using the application
3.1. Activating MIMBUS BRIDGE on your simulator
To use MIMBUS BRIDGE, you need to activate the feature in your simulator:
-
Launch your simulator and go to the options (gear icon on the home page).
-
Scroll through the options to the "Mimbus Bridge" section, and activate the broadcast.
-
Choose the quality adapted to your network performance. It is recommended to start with medium quality and adjust if necessary.
3.2. Viewing video feedback
Once your simulator is configured, launch the application on the installation device.
The application starts in mosaic mode. The headsets present on the same network are automatically detected. No configuration is necessary, but the supervised headsets and the device hosting Mimbus Bridge must be on the same private local network. It is possible to force detection using the icon to the right of "Live Feed".
The mosaic view provides an overview of the connected headsets in low-quality video. To switch to full-screen view, touch/click on a thumbnail:
The full-screen view displays the following information:
-
Headset name, if it has been saved in Favorites (see next chapter)
-
Connected user’s name, if they are logged in via their Vulcan account
-
Current simulator/exercise
-
User’s view
The "Back" button allows you to return to the mosaic view.
3.3. Managing favorites
Newly detected headsets appear in the mosaic view with a gray border. You can name and save your headset by activating the star located at the top right of the view. The add to favorites window then appears:
You can manage your favorites at any time (change name, color, delete a previously saved headset) by activating the icon located at the bottom left of the main window.
4. Frequently Asked Questions
Is MIMBUS BRIDGE compatible with other simulators?
No, only Mimbus simulators are compatible with the application.
The screen feedback is of poor quality
To minimize performance impact, the mosaic view offers reduced video quality. Switch to full-screen by selecting a thumbnail to get significantly improved feedback quality.
If the problem persists, go to the simulator options on the headset and adjust the broadcast quality in the "Mimbus Bridge" section. Note that too high quality on a poor network will result in significant delay in feedback or visual artifacts.
The application remains on the message "No Headset connected"
-
Restart your headset and the device hosting Mimbus Bridge;
-
Check that the headset(s) are not in sleep mode: only active headsets are detected by the application;
-
Check that the simulator is running on your headset: the application cannot function in menus or broadcast a non-compatible application;
-
Check that the broadcast option is activated on your simulator: Refer to the chapter "Activating MIMBUS BRIDGE on your simulator";
-
Check that your headset and Mimbus Bridge are connected to the same private network: If necessary, ask your network engineer to perform this verification.
