2. Frequently Asked Questions

2.1. How to install the application

There are two diffrent procedures, depending on your platform :

2.2. How to activate my simulator’s licence ?

Please follow the steps : Activate your simulator

2.3. The application starts, but I’m still in the standard lobby of my VR headset

This simulator uses OpenXR. This needs to be configured to work with the headset using the following methods:

HTC / Valve headsets

  • Launch SteamVR

  • Menu → Settings → Development

  • Click on the "Set SteamVR as the current OpenXR runtime environment" button

Windows Mixed Reality headsets

  • Download the "OpenXR Development Tools for Windows Mixed Reality" application from the Windows store

  • Launch the application

  • In "Installation status", check that Windows Mixed Reality OpenXR is installed, and correct the problem if necessary

  • In "Installation Status", click on "Set as active runtime

Oculus headsets

  • Launch the Oculus app on your PC

  • Go to Settings > Beta

  • Open XR runtime: Click on the "Set Oculus as active" button

2.4. I have an Oculus Quest headset, how do I know if my USB cable is of good quality?

To check the speed:

  • Start the Oculus application

  • In "Devices", click on the headset image

  • Click on "USB Test" and follow the procedure

We recommend a data rate > 1500 Mbps for a comfortable use. If the data rate is lower than 300Mbps, it is likely that the streaming will not work.

Note
We recommend purchasing the official USB cable (speed: 2Gbps) from the Oculus shop to avoid any speed problems.
  1. Check the installation of the Oculus application on the PC: If the software is not present, download it from https://www.oculus.com/setup/?locale=fr_FR and install it.

  2. Check the cable connection

  3. Check the cable flow: follow the procedure described in 3.2, and change the cable if necessary

  4. Contact Oculus support.

2.6. I have an Oculus Quest headset and the application works, but there are freezes, image tearing and other visual artifacts

Check the quality of the link cable following the procedure described in 3.2, and change the cable if necessary.

2.7. I cannot pick up objects from the ground

Change the height of the floor in your roomscale application

2.8. I have an HP Omnicept headset, but the "Biometrics" tab does not appear on the status screen

Make sure you have the Omnicept driver installed at version 1.12 or higher.

In the "HP Omnicept" resident utility in the system tray, check that the "Eye tracking", "Heart rate" and "Face camera" sensors are enabled.

In the resident "HP Omnicept" utility, ensure that the "Discover.exe" application is present in the list of allowed clients. If it is not, accept the application in the list of incoming subscription requests.

If the problem persists, contact HP support.

2.8.1. I have two Mimbus Discover shortcuts on my desktop, which one should I use?

Mimbus Discover : Launches the application in connected mode: Once the application is launched, the user will be able to put on their virtual reality headset to authenticate themselves and choose the exercise to launch. Once the exercise has been completed and the result validated, the choice of the next exercise will also take place in the virtual reality environment.

Mimbus Discover (Kiosk) : Launches an "Interactive Kiosk" interface with the exercises available in a mosaic. The choice of which exercise to launch will be made on this interface, and the application will start without Vulcan authentication. Once the exercise is finished, the application will automatically close until a new exercise is chosen on the interface. This mode is best suited for trade shows / kiosks.

Note
It will be possible to add Vulcan authentication in Kiosk mode by modifying the configuration file: C:\MIMBUS\Discover\WorkshopInABox\Resources\config.xml, removing the "-VulcanOffline" mentions
